128TH INDEPENDENCE DAY

Today marks the 128th anniversary since General Emilio Aguinaldo proclaimed Philippine independence from Spanish colonial rule in Kawit, Cavite.

More than a commemoration of the past, Independence Day reminds us that freedom is both a privilege and a responsibility. It is found not only in the sovereignty of a nation, but also in the everyday choices to uphold truth, protect human dignity, and work toward a society where every Filipino has the opportunity to live with hope and purpose.

The heroes who came before us fought so that future generations could determine their own destiny. May we honor their sacrifices not only through remembrance, but through the way we use the freedom entrusted to us—to speak with courage, act with compassion, and contribute to the continual shaping of a nation that is just, inclusive, and truly free.
